Rockstar Games faces major blow as GTA 5 source code leak

It appears like developers and gamers worldwide are having the worst holiday season ever, after both Insomniac and Rockstar Games faced major data leaks earlier this month.

Following the recent leak of Insomniac’s Wolverine game, it seems that Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 developer Rockstar Games has been targeted next by leakers, according to Sportskeeda.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, a popular YouTuber SKizzle on Monday revealed that the entire source code of GTA 5 has been leaked publicly along with data related to Bully 2 and the next GTA title codenamed “Project Americas”.

The YouTuber confirmed the report by sharing a screenshot of the leaked GTA 5 source code which suggests that Rockstar was also working on a supposed sequel to the highly acclaimed Bully video game.

Another report on X claims that the source code has been leaked in a Discord server, the name of which has not been disclosed to avoid spreading the data.

A fan who goes by the name “Agent” also shared their part of the GTA 5 source code leaks and some of the images of Rockstar Games’ RAGE engine on X. However, their post has now been taken down.

Another developer, Insomniac Games, recently faced a huge data leak that revealed a fully downloadable unreleased Wolverine video game, along with details about their upcoming titles.

The source code and footage of GTA 5 were leaked last year but were never made public until now, causing a significant data loss for the developer and potentially impacting current and future players of the series.

Game enthusiasts online also emphasised the potential impact of the leaked source code, which may even result in delays for the upcoming GTA 6 by Rockstar Games.

As Rockstar Games has yet to address the leak, fans have been requested to appreciate the hard work the developers put into their video games and avoid spreading the leaked source code further.
